Amazing Destinations: Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden

I never got the whole “wintering in Hawaii” thing. I can’t wait for winter to arrive, its my favorite time of the year. Maybe its because I’m Irish, and my genes are just predisposed to a chill in the air. Maybe its because I love the feeling of curling up in front of a warm fire, sippin’ Irish coffee with my squibblie boop. Maybe its just because I’m a hot blooded beast. I don’t know, I just love frost, blustery wind and snowflakes and freezing rain, it makes me feel like a lone wolf, running the forest, pelt dripping cold.

Anyway, I know I’m not the only one who appreciates Jack Frost, and for all you who love the winter, we’ve got a great location to travel to this year, once the days shrink: Ice Hotel, located in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, … (Don’t ask me how to pronounce that… I just don’t know).

I’ve seen that there are other “Ice Hotels” out there, but this one is the biggest, baddest of them all. You’ll be living out your fantasies as Superman off to his Ice Lair in no time! There’s everything an ice-lover could want. Your igloo/room is a comfy -5 degrees Celsius. There’s ice sculpting classes, grab a drink at the Ice Bar, Check out the Northern Lights on the frozen patio.

Get married! Man, I can imagine an awesome wedding ceremony here. Sure, it’d be kinda difficult to get all your friends and loved ones out to Sweden, but… Hey, if your planning on eloping, why not escape that icy stare you get from your soon to be reluctant father-in-law by jetting out to the most awesome chill spot in the world?!?

Rates are very reasonable: only 1450 SEK a night. I have no idea what a SEK is worth, but I’m sure it’s not very much at all! Just… just look at the place. Its beautiful. Its perfect. its goin’ on your bucket list if you’ve got a cold, cold heart… like me 🙂
