Canadian Government Grilled on Lack of Comprehensive Climate Change Policy

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change grilled representatives of the Canadian government over their policies on global warming in Bonn, Germany today. A presentation by Environment Canada on Canada’s climate change targets made no mention of the oil sands, a fact that delegates from other countries immediately asked about at the conclusion of the presentation.

Peter Betts from the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change stated “This has been an issue featured much in the press, and I know there have been allegations from the press that the emissions from that sector have not been included in Canada’s inventory (report submission to the UN).”
