Even Pandas Are Eco-friendly!

This is way too cute!

This morning I read in the news that 2 giant pandas from Singapore by the names of Jia Jia and Kai Kai are on an eco-friendly diet! Of course, this diet consists of none other than home-grown bamboo!

It’s quite fascinating because wildlife reserves in Singapore don’t use any chemicals at all. Instead, they recycle animal waste and fallen leaves as mulch. According to Mr Melvin Tan who is the director of Horticulture, they’re doing very well, preventing the weeds from competing with the bamboo.

For the past few years, they’ve also been growing 2 different species of bamboo because a giant panda eats 20 kilogrammes of food every day, so home-grown bamboo reduces its carbon footprint.

Adorable!
