You are invited to a free cultural event at Essentia this June 6, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Attend the Opening Night of artist, Alison Philpotts, listen to the music of keyboardist, Emil Hiti, meet some of your Kensington neighbours, and share some delicious light refreshments from Osteria de Medici and Pascal’s Patisserie.

Born and raised in Calgary, Alison Philpotts finds inspiration for her light-filled canvases in the foothills and mountains of B.C. and Alberta. Her brightly coloured landscapes hint at the Impressionist influences giving shape and vitality to her paintings.

Following in the footsteps of earlier celebrated Canadian landscape artists, Alison Philpotts notes that, “A painting succeeds when it captures the grandeur and serenity of nature and translates these feelings to the viewer, possibly conjuring memories of places he or she has been”.  There is no doubt that Alison succeeds very well in capturing the spirit and beauty of Western landscapes, meanwhile sparking our enthusiasm for special places.
